On 21 April 2026, a historic milestone was reached at Wabtec Netherlands: the final Panel Meters were produced. This marks the end of 113 years of craftsmanship, dedication, and technical expertise.
Since 1913, originally under the name NIEAF, generations of colleagues have built and safeguarded these products. For more than a century, Panel Meters played a trusted role in countless railway, maritime, and industrial applications worldwide.
Every meter that left our production carried something of their knowledge, precision, and pride. Closing this chapter feels bittersweet. While it marks the end of a long legacy, it is above all a moment of pride — pride in what has been achieved together, and in the people who made it possible. Although Panel Meters are no longer a product, the knowledge, memories, and collaboration live on in everything we continue to build together.
