113 years of Panel Meters – a remarkable chapter comes to a close. On 21 April 2026, a historic milestone was reached at Wabtec Netherlands: the final Panel Meters were produced. This marks the end of 113 years of craftsmanship, dedication, and technical expertise.
Since 1913, originally under the name Nieaf Smitt, generations of colleagues have built and safeguarded these products. For more than a century, Panel Meters played a trusted role in countless railway, maritime, and industrial applications worldwide. Every meter that left our production carried something of their knowledge, precision, and pride.
